The South’s Best City of 2017

The South's Best City of 2017

 By Jeff Cook | March 16th, 2017

*Cheers!* We can add another win under our belt. The accolades just keep coming for Charleston, South Carolina.Southern Living Magazine has nominated Charleston as The South’s Best City of 2017. Readers of the magazine voted through a list of 13 categories to give Charleston it’s latest honor, and our sister city Savannah, Georgia was awarded runner up.

There is always something going on in the Charleston Lowcountry. We are currently  in the middle of Charleston Fashion Week. The Charleston Food Wine Festival and Southeastern Wildlife Expo recently took place in Downtown Charleston's Marion Square. Charlestonians are looking forward to April events such as the Flowertown Festival in Summerville and the Cooper River Bridge Run in Mount Pleasant! Did we mention the plethora of oyster roasts? In fact Boone Hall Plantation, located in Mt. Pleasant, hosts the World’s Largest Oyster Roast each year!

The Lowcountry does well with merging the old and the new. Charleston is still alive with history, and a foundation that is dedicated to preserving the character of the city along with the plantations along Highway 61. However, it allows for new ventures such as renovating venues for the arts, restoring run down buildings and factories into boutique hotels and shops, and there is always a new restaurant popping up or a new chef coming to town. But when you’re tired of the Downtown vibe or need a break from history, there are plenty of barrier island beaches close by for a little R&R.

There is something for everything in Charleston. Are you ready to make the move and find something for you? Call us today at 843-501-0506!
